EA had one job: Representing the only Singaporean in FIFA 15. But they messed it up.
After signing for Australian side Melbourne City in late January, national defender Safuwan Baharudin has now popped up in the popular video game as a playable option – possibly due to the efforts of this patriotic Singapore football fan on the FIFA forums. It would have been another proud moment for Safuwan and country – but for the fact that the FIFA 15 makers got his appearance wrong.
As pointed out by eagle-eyed Singaporeans, the 23-year-old’s jersey reads “Baharudin” – his father’s name – when it should carry “Safuwan” instead.
Then there’s the obvious: it doesn’t look like Safuwan at all.
Nonetheless, at least a few thousand Australians should be getting familiar with Safuwan’s mug.
To be fair, according to online FIFA player database SoFIFA.com, the game lays no claim to representing his “real face”.
The versatile player, capped 43 times by Singapore, made his first start for Melbourne City last Saturday as a defensive midfielder in a 3-0 loss to derby rivals Melbourne Victory.
